      normally this mark gets a rank around 7200 but this year there will be a lot of difference

    This pattern changed a bit and creatd a huge problem instead of 10 subjective with no negative marks this year there were 10 mcq with 2/3 negative so marks are gonna get dwn than prev yrs i think

      your score is very good...last year a frnd of mine got 117 and ranked 945...so u wud be under 800..
      but considering this year's paper the cutoff might be low...so u can get under 500...

      this years 60 is eqivalent to last years 70 so you try to find someone with this mark .... i guess you will get within 6500... but considering the standard of the paper there are slight chances of getting 5500-6000

    yup the maths was tough and lengthy plus increase in negative markings cutoff gonna decrease last year 77 marks afforded 4900 rank this year it gonna go down

      your general rank would be around 9000 for sure sc rank cant say since this year paper was tough so many of the sc candidate wouldnt have scored your mark...my guess your sc rank could be 600

    >120 under 1000
    >105and<120 from 1000 to 2000

      As u know,marks are not disclosed in wbjee..only the rank is given.The only way to calculate your marks is by using the answer keys provided by various institutes which may not be perfectly correct(though u get fairly good idea)
      So i cant say that i can 100% guarantee but m pretty sure of it..coz last yr a frnd of mine scored (acc to him) 54 and he ranked around 8200..
      But as this year's papr was comparatively tough(except bio) so cut offs might be low..
      Got my point??

    sir my frd is getting 162.66 or 164 (doubt in an question) so can he be under top 50 or 25. He said that this time phy and chem were easy and math a bit tougher so 160+ will mean around under 100!!!!!

      Dont wry...u definitely have a very good chance...and u will surely get govt colg..
      u see...for gen category a score of 60 may fetch a rank around 7k(7000) this yr..and as for sc category ths will go far down..

      in PCB??? 45 in PCB wont even fetch u a rank...
      u see...ranks upto 90000 were given in engg in wbjee 2011...but as medical seats are less so only ranks upto 3000(approx) are given which include BDS(dental) seats..

      out of approx 1lakh students who gave the xam last year counselling ws done for ranks upto 90000 rank...
      Ur score is very low bt u can still go for counselling...though it wont b of much use as most of the good colleges will be filled up.

      U will get electrical in kalyani university...but have u even collected any info regarding the colg? I'll give u somethng...d syllabus is much more tough than wbut..dats the first thng.the 2nd thng is that the colg practically hasnt got any campussing for the last 2yrs..This yr a ngo came though!! But if u are more interested in pursuing higher education than getting a job then (DETS)KU will be good choice for u.

      Shoumya, here's what i just knew from different sources.. Jalpaiguri govt. college is better than kalyani but as it is away from kolkata very few good ranking students apply there.
      So, my main question is, when one gets a rank about 2000, which govt. engg. college should he apply for mechanical or electrical engg.,main focus being on placement? Also can you tell which of these is the best? 1.Jalpaiguri univ 2.Burdwan univ 3.WBUT (salt lake) 4.Govt. College of
      Engineering & Ceramic
      Technology, Kolkata (only for computer science). I am waiting for your honest advice.

      Yea u r ryt...most ppl dont go to jalpaiguri coz its far and u kno thre have been few ragging issues too...
      But y r u not considering kgec?? Some ppl have a misundrstanding dat KU & Kgec r the same but hell no!!kgec is much betr and it is undr Wbut whreas KU is a deemed university with its own syllabus..
      Furthermore u askd for civil,mech or electricl but WBUT(saltlake) or Kalyani Univ(it has EIE)or govt colg of ceramic tech dosnt have core streams as far as i kno...jalpaiguri is too far and i hv no idea bout burdwan..the closing rank ws pretty dwn last yr..more than 12k.
      According to me..u shud opt for kgec...d colg is good..

      I think u wil get ur desired stream in kgec...u can also check for last year's allotment at www.csc-et.in under "candidate allotment"
      Oh n bout d laptop..hmm well i dnt thnk it will be allowed in d colg during d 1st yr as u wont be needing it much AND if u r talking about hostel then,well,its pretty much advisble not to take it (if u want to see it in one piece again)..Lolz..:-P
      U kno..1st sems arent always d best tyms of ur lyf.. ;-)

      you got a fair chance of getting a general rank between 4500 - 6000... i know a boy who gave wbjee in 2011 and he scored 72 in pcm thats for sure and scored 6701 rank.. one of my friend he also belong to sc category scored 65 and got 7436 as general and 341 in sc.... but since this year maths was quite tough due to increse in negative marking and change of pattern you could hope a fair rank...i guess your sc rank could be 200 - 250 or even better. since this year paper created a tubulence so you can hope not much of the sc candidate have scored well.

      if thats your exact mark then you will get a very good rank!!! hopefully might get above 800!! but have you verified your marks or just guessing it???

      according to a friend of mine who studies in rcc 3rd year this time there was 80% campussing in cse this year.. so i think cse in rcc is beter cant say about ece though you should verify yourself again

      yes there very high probabilities you could expect much better also.... this year there was lots of negative markings in both paper and the maths paper was quite tough so you can hope better than that.... i asked many candidates and everyone came up with the same reply
