SINDRI: BIT Sindri students have
celebrated all around the campus
on Friday night after IT major
Tata Consultancy Services offered
jobs to 201 students of the next
session. The students have been
offered a salary package of up to
Rs 3.17 lakh per annum.
In the last academic session, 535
students secured campus
placement.
The jubilation on the campus
continued for the whole night
after the company announced
final results for the selection
around 10.30pm.
According to G Kumar, the
professor in charge of training
and placement of the institute,
286 students of a total strength
of nearly 700 appeared for the
two-day placement test that
included written and verbal
rounds.
Those selected by the company
include 30 students from
chemical engineering, 14 from
civil, 27 from computer science
and engineering branch, 23 from
electrical, 33 from electronics and
communication, 32 from
information technology, 17 from
mechanical, 16 from metallurgical
engineering and 19 from
production engineering branch,
he said.
Students from mechanical and
mining engineering branches
turned up in very less numbers
for the test as they preferred
core group companies of their
branch over IT sector, said Kumar
adding that last year nearly 90
per cent students of mechanical
and mining engineering
branches got placement in core
group companies.
Earlier Tata-Tayo and Tata-TRF
selected six students each from
the institute and Tata-telecon
selected three students from the
institute for job. After the TCS
selection, the total number of
students securing job through
campus placement drive for the
current session has gone up to
216. Last year, 46 companies
visited BIT Sindri for campus
placements.
Institute director S K Singh
congratulated the
students for their success and
called them upon to
study hard and keep BIT Sindri
flag high.
